The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB), established in 2017, is the first global health institute in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and one of the very few in the Global South. AUB GHI addresses global health challenges with a focus on contextual relevance and sustainable impact, employing an interdisciplinary approach. It comprises three core divisions: Academy, Research and Policy, and ASSIST. GHI also leads a range of specialized programs in areas such as conflict medicine, digital health, refugee health, climate and health, and epidemic preparedness, among other strategic initiatives.
