Abstract:
Opportunistic beamforming is investigated in OFDMA uplink. A low complexity scheduling algorithm for utility maximization with opportunistic beamforming is presented. Scheduling with greedy and proportional fair utilities is studied. A beam is formed in a pseudorandom fashion thus leading to artificial fading variations. This allows users to opportunistically benefit from the antenna gain. Results show improved throughput and fairness in the case of opportunistic beamforming even when only a single beam is used. ©2009 IEEE.
