dc.description.abstract The design of an ultra-wideband (UWB) dielectric resonator antenna with reconfigurable band rejection is presented in this paper. The induced band notch helps to limit interference to a narrowband service operated inside the UWB frequency range. The proposed antenna is based on a cylindrical dielectric resonator (DR) with a relative permittivity of 12, which is excited by a bevel-shaped patch printed on a Rogers RO3203 substrate over a partial ground plane. A rectangular split-ring slot is etched on the microstrip-line-fed patch, and is responsible for the creation of a band notch. A DC stepper motor, placed below the substrate, is used to rotate the DR and change its position with respect to the patch and the slot. As a result of the DR rotation, notch reconfigurability is achieved over the lower part of the UWB range, where most narrowband systems operate.
