Abstract

The thesis focuses on the development of a load calculation program based on the transfer function method. Results obtained from cooling load by the RTS (real time series method) are compared to those obtained by the revised TFM. The first objective of the thesis is to develop a program that calculates the cooling loads for a building composed of multiple rooms based on the revised Transfer Function Method. This program is written using MATLAB. In addition to cooling load calculations, the program also performs calculations of the heat extraction rates for the desired zone. The program is tested and results of an example room are compared to those obtained by commercial cooling load calculation software HAP. The second objective is to compare cooling load results using different methods in comparison with those of the revised Transfer Function Method. Differences in the implementation and calculation methodology of the methods will be pointed out and the results are discussed.
