Optimization of manufacturing process and increased demand :Abed Manufacturing Company - case study -
Abstract
AMC is a Lebanese manufacturing company established in 1994. The Company’s main products are toilet flushing systems, water tank float valves and chrome plated floor drain covers. AMC recently received an inquiry to produce and ship 4000 water tank float valves to Dammam, Saudi Arabia — a substantial quantity double the current capacity. This case study examines the available production capabilities at AMC and the current bottle necks. It also moves on to explore different approaches to increase production capacity. Finally, the case investigates shipping costs and custom expenses and appropriate batch quantities and unit pricing.
