Abstract

Differentiated instruction is tailored instruction that incorporates a variety of strategies aimed at meeting the needs and interests of individual students. It aims at aligning the instructional strategies with students’ needs, strengths, interests and learning styles. Research has shown the positive impact of differentiating instruction according to the students’ learning styles. Given this positive effect of differentiated instruction on various aspects, this project aims at providing the biology teachers of grades 10 till 12 with the tools needed to differentiate instruction in their classes while teaching the genetics unit. This unit was specifically chosen since many students have misconceptions about genetics concepts and face difficulties understanding many of these concepts.
