Abstract
This thesis is a study of the renovation practices in Lebanon and using the findings and analysis to implement into a new renovation project for better results in longevity of the project and usability. Firstly, it looks upon examples of architectural management in restoration, renovation, and reconstruction projects in Lebanon and surmises five architectural mechanisms which are interest, financing, legalism, knowledge, and execution. These mechanisms are part of a renovation mechanism chain that needs to have every link functioning and working in conjunction with the other links for the project to succeed. A site is then chosen and intervened upon assuming those mechanisms are in place and viable in order to rehabilitate a heritage site in Tripoli, Lebanon.
