Abstract

The objective of the study assesses whether the level of telecommuting ethics will be impacted by the work family conflicts the person is facing. We are also interested in uncovering whether gender plays any role in the variables of interest. The basic proposition is that people who face lots of work-family conflicts and family-work conflicts may be more ethically lenient towards telecommuting. The study aims assessing such relationships among a sample of Lebanese business professionals. This study relies on quantitative data collection and analysis. Quantitative research methods were administered to collect and analyze the data in this field project given the objectives of this study. The data collected through surveys addressed to business professionals in various Lebanese organizations. A convenience sample of about 105 employees was contacted in the greater Beirut area. The information and findings collected from the literature review and through the survey were analyzed using basic descriptive statistics and correlations and analysis of variance and multivariate analysis. The findings found no link between conflicts and telecommuting, but significant gender differences were found in family-work conflicts and work-family conflicts and telecommuting employer related ethics.
