Abstract
Description
The FloraLebanon (FL) dataset was collected through 27 field expeditions in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, Lebanon, between April and December 2024. Plant images were captured using a structured imaging protocol, documenting multiple perspectives of whole plants, leaves, stems, flowers, fruits, and habitats to capture key morphological traits across phenological stages (vegetative, flowering, fruiting). Data collection was conducted via a citizen science approach, engaging university students and local youth, with volunteers trained in both theoretical and practical field methods. Voucher specimens were collected to validate taxonomic labelling with experts. Following data collection, images were manually cleaned to remove duplicates, poor-quality shots, and redundant perspectives, and converted to JPEG format for compatibility. Metadata including species names (Scientific Name, Common Name, Arabic Name, Accepted Name, and Total Number of Images per Species) was organized into an Excel file.
