Abstract
The physical damage, economic crisis, and social fragmentation in Lebanon will lead to the country’s collapse. International aid is crucial, but it cannot play the role of the state in implementing reforms and providing for the needs of its population; the authorities must pursue governance reform and economic recovery.

Although some of the figures used throughout the paper may have changed, the overall analysis and long-term ramifications still hold, and the reason why we have gone ahead with publication, trusting it will be of added value to the literature on the subject at this critical time.
