dc.description.abstract This thesis explores the cultural markers in children’s literature that indicate national identity. The research will focus on Lebanon as a case study and will attempt to discern whether children’s literature in Lebanon promotes a sense of belongingness and identification with Lebanese society and the geographic space or the nation. The paper draws upon primary sources, children’s picture books published by mainstream publishing houses to study views of the meaning of nationhood.
