Given the prevalence of technology that has changed every aspect of our lives, educational institutions in general, and humanities instructors in particular, are encouraged to embrace new technologies to leverage on the digital skills of the millennials and prepare them for the modern workplace. This study is a qualitative case study that explores the skills acquired by students enrolled in a British literature survey course that makes use of digital tools to equip learners with essential skills needed for the modern workplace, namely, digital fluency, collaboration, and communication. The perceptions of the study participants were also investigated through two open ended surveys. The results showed that digital pedagogy can turn a literature class into a student centered environment where students acquire essential skills that are needed in the modern work place and an increasingly digitized world. The results also revealed that the participants have positive attitudes about the course where they particularly enjoyed the freedom of choice, the group work, and the digital work. |
