dc.description.abstract It is not uncommon for fast-growing growing companies to face bottlenecks at one or more levels of their business processes. In Lebanon, a company named HedgeGuard with offices in Beirut, London and Paris, faced a bottleneck that resulted from a spike in demand for their novel cryptocurrency-supported Portfolio Management System (PMS). Following a review of the literature, a framework is presented to dissect and choose the best of multiple proposed solutions. To write this case I visited HedgeGuard to collect data such as payroll expenses, history of client acquisition, organizational charts and more. I met several employees from various departments and conducted multiple interviews with the CFO and CEO. What resulted was a teaching case that details HedgeGuard’s history including the events that led it to the problem it faced recently. The paper concludes with the decision to implement the proposed solution with the lowest Net Present Value as well as the real-world results of that decision.
