dc.description.abstract This thesis translates and analyses the thirteenth Night from the Kitab al-Imta' wa-l-mu'anasa. The thirteenth night is a recording of a majlis, conducted by Abu Sulayman as-Sijistani, during which a theory of the nature of the soul is developed and the ethical implications of this ontology are investigated.
