dc.description.abstract Homelessness has been an observable social issue in Lebanon with plenty of cases that attest to that My experience with a homeless man has pushed me to delve deeper into homelessness and its adaptation to the urban and social fabric. As I look into the definition of “home” and map out the needs of the individual, I discover the public toilet as a highly important public infrastructure. The aim of this thesis is to explore homelessness with respect to the public toilet and the social norms pertaining to it. The result is an art installation, on the only public space in Beirut, the Corniche, which presents itself as a cynical commentary on the reality of homeless individuals with respect to the nuanced social and housing standards.
