dc.description.abstract This project aims at defining the concept of employee engagement in the context of a hospital, the AUBMC, as well as studying its antecedents and consequences. This quantitative research was based on 200 surveys distributed to employees from different job titles, departments and families at the AUBMC. Key informant interview with the AUBMC chief operating officer also helped improve the contextual relevance of the questionnaire items to the AUBMC context. Using multiple statistical tools the results obtained were consistent with the literature, showing a positive correlation between perceptions of procedural justice and employee engagement, as well as a positive significant relationship between LMX and engagement. Results also indicated that employee engagement is negatively related to absenteeism, and positively correlated to patients’ complaints.
