dc.description.abstract The United States Government (USG) has provided funding for various programs working towards improving access to information in developing countries throughout the world. During the period of 2005 – 2010, Internews Network, IREX and ICFJ implemented media development projects through USG funding in Lebanon. However, very little is known about the extent of USG media assistance to Lebanon and its impact on the development of the country. This study explores the extent of USG media assistance in Lebanon between 2005 and 2010, and provides an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of USG-funded media development projects implemented by Internews Network, IREX and ICFJ. Through research conducted by one-on-one interviews bolstered by document analysis, the study revealed strengths and weaknesses common to the USG-funded media assistance projects implemented by the three organizations in Lebanon.
